We Live Here
From the outside, Richard Meier’s On Prospect Park, set beside Grand Army Plaza, is a striking sculpted glass tower. The downstairs galleries, with high ceilings and tall windows, are airy and light-filled. Art feels at home here. For seven years building residents have generously hosted over twenty exhibitions, featuring the work of local contemporary artists. In 2011 Richard Meier himself had an exhibition of 56 collages and four stainless steel sculptures, the first time Meier ever exhibited in one of his buildings.
This summer, The Gallery@1GAP presents, “We Live Here,” a homegrown exhibition, which looks inward, culling from the talent within the building’s community. It’s with great pleasure that I present the work of resident artists, Lucy James, Ana Delgado, Thomas Schmitt, Varda Yoran, Justin Brice Guariglia, Robin Sacks, Martine Channon, Cate Holt, Alejandro Vargas, Linda Nesbit-Floria, Alan Fleischer, Zahra Pars Sethi, and Rachel O’Meara.
My special thanks to Robin Sacks, President of the Art Committee, Ana Delgado, Treasurer, and all of the Board Members. The Gallery@1GAP art program was conceived of by the late Dr. Alan Fleischer, whose presence will be missed.
